The eSSL MB160 can be discussed with optional battery backup, Wi-Fi and GPRS. These options must be confirmed for the unit being quoted. Product photographs and a model-family name do not establish which optional hardware is fitted or which services are included.
Put the configuration in writing
Ask the quotation to name each required option and identify the supported software and communication method. Use the manufacturer’s MB160 reference and MB160 brochure alongside the supplier’s written confirmation. A cloud account, mobile-data service or software licence should be listed separately when needed.
Battery backup covers a particular power dependency
Define the interruption you want to manage: a brief power cut at the terminal, loss of the local network or loss of the whole office supply. A battery in the terminal does not automatically power the router, switch or attendance computer. Ask for a realistic demonstration with the supplied configuration and record what continues working. Runtime depends on the actual battery and operating conditions; it should be agreed and tested rather than assumed.
Check Wi-Fi at the mounting location
When Wi-Fi is selected, have IT confirm that the fitted option supports the intended wireless environment. Assess the signal where the unit will be mounted, not only beside the router. Agree network addressing, permitted communication and who will maintain the connection after a network change. If the wireless route is unsuitable, discuss supported wired collection before installation.
Check GPRS as a complete service path
GPRS is an optional mobile-network route, subject to the fitted hardware and current network/service availability. Confirm compatible service, local coverage, ongoing data charges and the destination collecting attendance events. Do not assume that a SIM or GPRS option works with every mobile plan or that it includes an attendance cloud subscription. Get the supported end-to-end arrangement confirmed for the site.
Document collection during an outage
Ask the installer to demonstrate an agreed connection interruption and restoration. Confirm how records are collected afterwards and who checks for gaps or duplicates. USB-host and TCP/IP are listed communication methods, but a fallback procedure must still match the supplied device and software. Keep the authorised export/import process documented.
Use a simple acceptance sequence
- Check the supplied model, options and included accessories against the quotation.
- Enrol an approved test user and record sample events.
- Collect those events using the chosen connection.
- Test the agreed power or connection interruption safely with the installer.
- Restore service and reconcile the sample report.
- Confirm administrator handover, backup and support responsibilities.
